tail light wires
« on: 03 October, 2015, 07:01:11 PM »
hello all
I have a Honda cbf1000fa. I am installing Givi top box brake lights. There are three wires to the tail light: black yellow,  black and black white. Does anyone know which one is the brake and which is the ground? :087:

Thanks Robo,
I am trying to fit rear top case brake lights (Givi) and I can't figure out how to reach the tail light wiring. Any ideas?

See attached extracts (converted from pdf and reduced in size) from the Workshop manual.  :028:
There must be an easier way?  :087:

For the complete Workshop Manual ('Mk2' bike, CBF1000F) see download link below, courtesy of member Bifferman. http://goo.gl/SWir44

Are you asking where to connect the wires to the bikes loom/wires?

OR

Where to thread the Givi wires from the mounting plate through the bike ?

On my Mk1 I connected my additional rear lights into the rear light wires before the looms multiplug so I didn't cut into the bikes loom.

I had to run the two wires under the rear cowl but above the light lens. rack is off but wires are showing.

I know the MK2 has a different rear end to the MK1 and the rear cowl removes with the rear side fairings. I got access to the bike wires ETC from removing the rear right side fairing.

According to the 'Shop' (Workshop) manual, Section 21. Wiring Diagrams:

Bl (Black) connects to G (Green) = Ground

All above colours are the light cluster not bikes loom.

Are you saying that nonvon should get a 'Mk1' bike, or that the 'Mk2' (CBF1000F) wiring diagram is wrong?  :138:
See attached.
