Ive done quite a few trips on my old '98 Blade with people on fuel injected bikes. My Blade would always use less fuel for the same speed/distance than the others with FI. The blade was fitted with a stupidly short straight through can, dynojet kit and K+N then set up on a dyno at 122RWHP. So it was not standard. My Brother had an FI SRAD 750, the blade would use at least a litre less fuel for the same distance/speed. Which was about 110-120 miles at 80 - 85mph on motorways. I thought it was normal, its one of the things I think about (ok, very briefly) when buying a new bike.

Ive done nearly 3000 miles on my MK1. Worst MPG was 48, best just under 54. Mainly I acheive an average 52, which I am very happy with.  :062:

We've got 13 miles to the litre, 48 miles to the gallon.  Has anybody got kilometres to the gallon? :187:

I have recorded all my fill-ups since new:

5.39   L / 100 km

43.6 MPG (US), so low '50s in Imperial gallons

I am pretty steady, slow rider, RPM mostly in the 4,000-6,000 range, with occasional bursts above the speed limit.  Saturday's top speed per GPS would have led to impounding the bike and suspension of the license.

I have to confess to being one of those really sad people who records everything.
The best I ever had on a Mk1 was 67mpg over a tank. This was a complete outlier and was achieved bimbling through the Ayrshire countryside with full paniers and a 92kg me on board on one of those beautiful dry days that are so rare up there it has been known for a public holiday to be declared when the sun appears (I can say that; my spiritual home is Prestwick). I have never had anything close ever since.

My Mk11 rarely returns less than 55mpg, never more than 59mpg. Most of my riding is commuting, 7 miles winding 50mph back road, 60-80mph dual carriageway for 12 miles and a couple of miles of town riding at each end. Always with a top box and my 92kg, 6'1" body on board.

It turns out I have been riding with a faulty Exhaust Gas Control Valve so it will be interesting to see what happens when I get that sorted.
I feel like a military academy; bits of me keep passing out - Arthur Dent.

My first post.  Picked up an 09 Mk I last Saturday.  I had an 04 CBF600 until a few months ago.  I haven't checked the economy yet but thought I would mention a slight issue in measuring economy.  When the tank looks nearly full and the pump cuts out, it is still possible to get in another 1.5 ltrs or so at a dribble.  On my 600, I ran it dry, added a cupful from the container I had in the top box and then managed to get over 20.2 litres in the tank at the nearest garage.   Honda quoted that CBF600 at 19 litres tank capacity and I think the Mk1 1000 at 19.4 l - looks like the same tank though.  Obviously for accurate mpg measuring its necessary to refill the tank to a consistent level.
