Fitted Michelin Pilot Road 4's

I have just replaced my pilot 4 s at 9000 miles, back just near depth bars front about 2 mm,  back was slighty squared but at least 1/3 of the miles were motorway on tour, front slightly shallower on shoulders with a small amount of ' scalloping', next set on and ready to go on bends after ,5 miles again, hard tyre to beat both in wet and dry grip and longevity.

Mine have only about 2500km so far but they're riding great. Using 36F/42R in them and the biggest problem I'm finding is that the bike wants to go faster. It's so smooth that I'm having to watch my speed as I'm usually 10-15kph faster than I should be or would have been with the OEM tires.

  But the OEM ones, were they bridgestone ? you would be in the ditch a lot quicker.

Perhaps this may be interesting. Perhaps I have not seen a similar post, apologies if I missed one.

After a year now on the pilot road 4's I have noticed front is very sensitive to pressures. All other aspects these are excellent.

As many mention 36/42 works well, though if this is on a warm day, a change of weather, temp/rain, can drop these by 1 or 2 psi and the front starts to wander a little on the tighter corners. Found anything under 36 from cold does this.

Tested up to 38 on a warm day and all remains good and when the rain hits and temp changes, still good.



Rear seems quite forgiving after losing several psi.

I have had the PR2, 3, & 4 and loved them. I ride in all sorts of weather being sub-tropical. This ranges from 38 deg C (102 F) air temps to tropical storms and hail storms. These tyres were fantastic. I could rely on them in all weather extremes. About 18 months ago the shop put PR5s on. What a pile of garbage. They lose grip when the road surface is warm, I couldn't trust them in the wet and they are only good for 6000 km max (just over 3500 miles).
Now I shell out for Angel GTs. They are not a PR4 but they suit Australian riding conditions well.
