I have, lost a new Hornet 900, high sided me in first gear, bung snapped engine mount (same engine as MK1), bike was a write off on the basis engine would be too expensive to replace.
    No Bungs for me!

    Hi all,

good to hear that bars are better than bungs, I was thinking of fitting both (don't know how yet) but now I'll stick to the bars.

What I'd really like to know is whether the newer (Bigger) bars fit the older (silver) engine mounts. Does anyone know if they are in the same place?

I fitted Fehling Crash bars to my Mark2 they covered engine and fairing well the only trouble was I kept barking my shin on them when braking hard so I took them off. Guess what I over balanced at 0 mph and dropped the bike I was lucky to get away with just a broken mirror arm and scratch on engine cover. I am putting them back on as none off the mounting bolts are likely to break if it goes over. These are German bars I got on e-bay

New name to me, but looks like Fehling only make a rack or rack with top plate for the Mk.II, no signs of any crash bars for this model.
Have you a Fehling part number please and maybe a pic or two of them fitted to your bike?

Must be a new line they haven't added to their website yet.
At least the part number is sequential with existing products for the Mk.II.
Are you hitting your shin on the rearmost point on the guard (right-most part in the image)?

I have had these bars for must be 9 months and brought them on e bay the very back of the bar is very close to your leg it does not touch it until you brake hard and slip up the seat a bit, don't forget I am a 70 yr old git and may be my riding style could have something to do with it!!!!! If in doubt don't buy as like all bike bits they are not cheap. The rear mounts for the bars are on the rear engine mounting bolt a new longer one is supplied it goes right though the engine so wont break off the front use the engine mounting bolt and nut again new ones supplied the most that could happen there is the frame would have to break which considering the size it is not likely.

I have purchased SW-Motech crash bars for my 2009 CBF.  I noticed that at the mounting point at the rear of the engine, there is a rubber plug in the mounting hole.  Can anyone advise of the easiest (safest) way to remove the plug without damaging the threads?
