The car is a 15 year old family wagon, the HID's a cheapo kit offebay, the mot tester a sympathetic local garage...

Just as well I've retired! (I took away several MOT authorisations when in Scotland and arbitrated on appeals later on when in charge of the MOT scheme!)

So you would abide strictly by the law if HID retrofits were outlawed on motorbikes :164:  .

I've told you -I've retired. :440:
However I do write to the Department for Transport on what regs they should review as clearly some have been overtaken by modern technology. One day they might wake up!

Let's not forget that, on the car at least, it only takes a few minutes to disconnect the hid loom and refit the standard lamps.
As long as the vehicle meets the required standard at the time of testing etc...
