    Hi Steve

Mitchells.  Not much choice in Inverness.  Although not with this bike they've been fine.  But overfilling the engine with oil is a very basic and potentially big mistake.
I'm still kicking myself for not checking it there.  Big problem with the side panels is its not easy to check the oil level so I waited till I'd got home.

I bought my used MK2 from a dealer who offered a minor service before I picked it up. On the way home I noticed that the engine felt a bit different and when I got home 3km later I checked the oil. Turned out there was overfilled by at least 1/3 of a liter ... I drained the excess oil and all was ok. Good thing was that I drove at relatively low rpms on the way home and caught it in time. Some 10k km later all is well.

And that's why some of us don't use dealers.

You pay top money and the job gets done by an underling. :151:

:0461: if a dealer service mechanic cannot do the simplest but important task of changing the oil correctly, it does not bode well for him/her doing any servicing at all.
The dealer needs to be made aware of what has happend, and if is not helpful with your complaint, dont go back their. Its unbelievable that over filling the engine with oil can happen, but
you leave your pride and joy at a dealers thinking its in experienced hands !!!!!.
If you can do it yourself do it, if not go off good recommendation.

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen lets keep this topic clear of gripes, name the dealer state the price service, the type of service and now MK1 2 exhausts or Mk1 1 1 exhaust.

Then for gripes start a new topic naming your gripes, yep I have a few also, lets keep this for service costs only so we can know if we are being ripped orf  :003:

Josiah  ( still )  :125: ( but now is having to watch the pennies closely  :019: )

It's all Relevant. if the stupid Dealers did what you pay them for they wouldn't need to be slagged off  :084:

Most avatars have what bike the owner has, mk1 or 2 :261:

2006 cbf1000 Mk 1. 16000 service plus identifying starting problems which by the way they failed to do......... £425.  Bike still won't start easily so back to garage. Extortionate labour prices .... Not impressed

I was recently stuck at work with a nail in my tyre, called everywhere but no one other than BDS motorcycles in North Shields said they could do a repair...£55.00 later I was livid and I had to readjust my chain... Bought a plug kit and co2 inflator..never again

always carry two.  They don't repair everything but most problems are just a puncture and they will get you home.  Touch wood I've never needed them for myself but I have helped other bikers get home.
