Danny, just googled it and there is 3.6ltrs of oil in a CBF I would guess that includes oil in filter, but I am sure somebody knows better, particularly somebody who has a bike, better still a CBF1000.

Not long though its a test ride for me on CBF, F800 and V-Strom 650 ABS. Tying it all in with one visit back to test them and make my decision and that won't until the new Wee is in the showroom mid August. In the meantime looking an dreaming.

2008 CBF1000 Mk1 16k service at Hunts Manchester, plus fit new headlight bulb, plugs and air filter supplied by myself, clutch and brake fluid not replaced (as it was changed at 12k) = £337.90 at Hunts Manchester.

After a very bad experience  with Lancaster Honda and dealings with the salesman there,  I wouldnt trust them with a pushbike and they have lost any future business from us for ever.
Hunts are expensive on parts and service compared to other places but, so far, their quality seems good and I don't mind paying a bit more knowing Im getting a good quality service, after all, its my ass thats on the line at the end of the day

Sorry to hear that Bill - I've had only good service from the sales and service staff (my last three bikes have been bought from them with good part exchange values) - but one bad experience is enough to put a customer off - so it is their loss.

4K I did myself, Oil and Filter, 8K £200(Castles Honda of Castleford)12K coming up which I will do myself, change all fluids,filters and check plugs. 16k I might look for a reputable independent dealer

Mk1 biffer 8000 mile service incl brake and clutch fluid £170.

I think that we should keep it simple and keep to service costs only. tyres and other parts would add too much confusion.

That was £28.50 for all the oil, not £28.50 per unit 
.....does £30-ish sound like a bike-full of oil?

Sounds like a good ball-park figure, Danny.
I recently bought a 4 litre of Silkolene Comp 4 10w-30w Fully-Synth for £24.73 + VAT but was subsequently informed by my local dealer that they use Silkolene Semi-Synth exclusively and that I shouldn't mix it.
Now I've to decide if, when I get to the first major service on my CBF1000FAB, I go to a full-synth oil or if I sell on the unopened 4 litres I've got already and stick with semi-synth as used at the dealer.
Decisions, decisions.....
I'm open to suggestions and maybe this is a good opportunity to take a straw poll on the question.

I have never used a dealer for any of my bikes, I use a local guy who I trust. He has serviced the CBF1000, CBR1100XX, Tiger 1050 and my wifes CB600F. The last service on her Hornet was a 30,000 full service, I asked for the lot to be looked at. Carbs balanced, shims checked and the usual oil and filter changes, and a good dose of looking at. Job all done for under £200. My Tiger was in need of a 20,000 mile service (no shims yet) full service plus a top quality chain and sprockets, plugs and rear pads, he fitted a scottoiler I provided and fitted new rubber I provided for £450. He always takes the brakes apart and cleans and lubes the bits. Everyone needs a Ritchie, he is a really honest genuine guy who relies on word of mouth to keep food on his plate, I want his babies.

Some of these servicing charges are frightening! My Mercedes CLK 270 CDI intermediate service was only £220 at a Mercedes dealers.
I have a 5 year old CBF 1000, first 8K service in warranty was £90. I have done the rest myself.
