It looked expensive to me as well, partly because of what (relatively small) amount of actual work is involved, plus the fact that when I was buying my CBF1000 from Hunts Manchester (used with something more than 7000 miles on the clock) and having already negotiated the p/x deal, I asked for an '8000 mile' service to be included, which they agreed to without batting an eye.
I'm sure that if the actual cost was significant, they would have baulked....I do realise that of course they must have been making a decent margin on the bikes.

Geoff, maybe you could ask for a discount, mentioning this forum which has several existing customers of theirs as members and potentially more.
John Brown (Managing Director) could be the man for that and in my experience he's a straight-talker.

2011 Mk1 GT: First 600ml service done at Lancaster Honda for £85 last month.

This is a good topic Josiah - posting on this forum before my service stopped me taking my bike to Lloyds in Carlisle and paying £150 to include their compulsory but unscheduled/unnecessary brake strip/clean/lube. I'll just do that myself later.

All work done by Blackpool Honda this year (2011).

8K inc mot £175
12k inc head check £155
16k inc valve clearance plus front tyre fitted (tyre cost £79)  £394
20k plus rear wheel bearing (bearing parts £25) £165

Typing this makes me realise just how expensive the running costs of my bike are when compared with my wife's nissan (serviced every 20K) @ £200 a go !!

but its not as much fun to ride

I bought my new GT from Hunts in 2010, they did the first service free, myself paying for the oil filter, when it was due its 4k i rang them and got a stupid service charge, no loyalty there, so i went to Lancaster Honda £120.00

So far Dobles have been reasonably priced and good quality work as well:

2010 Mk 1 GT

5/8/10  4000 mile serivce £ £67.56

10 /5/11 8000 mile service £ 325 (but that included a new PRII rear tyre and rear brake pads)

I had my 600 mile service done recently, and I have an entry which I don't fully understand on the receipt. I will ask the dealer about it in due course, but it's going to have to wait for a bit until they've finished some other outstanding work first.

The entry is:

"HONDA CBF1000FA [see previous thread about *actual* model number!]; Reg No: XX11XXX; Manf Year: 2011; [something that looks like a frame number]; Qty: 2; Cost: 99.54"

Below this there are entries for 30 (presumably litres) x oil @ £28.50, an oil filter @ £11.96, etc.

Does anybody know what the first entry is? Does it represent labour?

Danny, that's one hell of a big sump you're running on your bike!
I suspect the 'Qty: 2; Cost: 99.54' is hours labour but definitely not sure about the 30 figure. Sounds like a typo.
What was your total bill then (must be less than the £966.50 your invoice items currently add up to)?
BTW - I got to get my 600mile service soon on a CBF1000FAB, so should have a good comparison to work with)

That was £28.50 for all the oil, not £28.50 per unit 

So, notwithstanding that the "30" is unlikely to be "litres", does £30-ish sound like a bike-full of oil?

Presumably the "30" was meant to be "3.0" (three litres of oil) charged at £9.50 per litre, which x 3 = £28.50
